There are probably a few different answers to this question. God gives us free will to make our own decisions He will never force us to choose Him. His helper the Holy Ghost, gives us nudges, but it is always in our court to make the decision. In 2021 I left Facebook I was out it was right after January 6, I was very emotional politically and spiritually especially with my birthday. I made certain decisions not wanting to watch this illegal inauguration that just so happened to be my birthday; I was sick to my stomach all day. Wondering why God would let this monster into the White House and his band of thugs. I still very much believe that.
The amazing part is that now 2 years later I’m not the only one to have these thoughts. That same year fast forward to April 21st which will be 2 years tomorrow was another big decision. God had a purpose for getting me out of my comfort zone which led me to Telegram of all places where a businessman mistakenly thought I was an old neighbor of his from Boston. I have never texted more in my life than these past two years. Telegram scared the jeezers out of me; I’m the last one of my church group to get on to Facebook, all those years ago after all. I nearly scared myself out of the final decision.
Trusting God seemed to be difficult in the middle of January 20th when evil seemed to penetrate the oval office. I never said it out loud, but I also knew God is always working, It was just so hard to see it at that time. For two months I became a news junkie on Telegram to the extent that I didn’t even see Bryan’s first Hello, for two days. Then it took another 5 days of thinking he must be completely insane, before I messaged him back. Long distance is not easy and honestly I have called it quits several times being exhausted at how hard we both have to work to have a relationship. He’s my best friend, confident, encouragement and sometimes my poet; I have grown in ways because of him. If I hadn’t taken a leap of faith and created the account on this foreign platform, I wouldn’t have been found by this amazing man who just happens to be from Boston. As a historian, I’m absolutely loving the idea of vacations in Massachusetts and even embracing the idea of moving there possibly. Something I never truly thought possible, but have always loved the possibility of standing where Patriots stood during the Revolutionary War.
